Japanese love emoji because their language is already conveyed primarily through ideograms.
The Latin alphabet in a pictographic English could be used for supplementary purposes, like katakana and hirigana are in Japanese.
As a random bonus fact: hirigana was originally a script only for women in Japan, centuries ago.
That would look so weird to eyes in this day and age but could become quite natural.
